#Building a long distance rifle sako finnbear serial number

The name "Finnbear" was not stamped on this rifle, but all long-action Sakos for many years were referred to with the original name of "Finnbear". It is the later model with the "Hunter"-style stock with rounded fore end and palm swell. Hunter PickardApr 30, Paul McIntosh likes this. My confusion comes from someone told me it was a Finnbear Deluxe and i dont see it anywhere on the rifle so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am confused as to what model it is and also i am curious as to the age and any other info i can get on it. Sako AV or Finnbear Deluxe? I am currently trying to figure out what kind of sako rifle i have on my hands.

Beautiful rifle!!!įLTballisticdaddy and stonecreek like this. Peruse the forum section on Sako long actions or do a search on L61R Deluxes for more details. The "Sakolope" floor plate engraving is the most common one. I would guess your rifle was made "around"as the AIII stamping was started in from what data is available. Your serial number suggests it is from that time, as well. Thank you in advance for any info you can provide! It is only possible to give an approximation of production dates with any Sako we don't have factory records on, like yours. Would like to know as much about this rifle as possible as well as its approximate value. I will attach a few photos on this rifle and the serial number is if that would assist in aging this piece. I am now shooting mostly custom rifles in F-Class long range matches but this has been in my safe for years and until lately have never really appreciated the beauty of the wood or the depth of color in the bluing. Good Morning All, This is my first post as I am trying to find some information on a rifle that I inherited when I was a young man.
